Directus + SKYA

Draft items into a Directus collection with a static token, status draft.

SKYA

Overview

Writes a content fix straight back into the system that publishes it, so shipping a change is not an export, an edit and an import.

AI crawler tracking on a Directus site

Counting AI crawler visits needs the server or CDN logs for the domain, which Directus does not hand out and no vendor can read from a content API. That is a property of where the site is served, not of the CMS, so put the domain behind Cloudflare and the visits are counted while publishing keeps working here.

Set up Cloudflare

How it works

  1. 1In Directus, open Settings, then Access Control, and on a role with create access to the collection add a user and generate a static token for it.
  2. 2In SKYA, choose Directus under Connect your site, paste the instance URL and the token, and name the collection (articles by default).
  3. 3Publish to site creates an item with status draft; open the collection, review it, and set it to published.

Where to find what Directus asks you for

Static token
Directus, User Directory, the user, Token, generate and save.
Permission it needs: The role needs create access on the collection and read access on its fields, so SKYA can see which fields exist.

Key benefits

  • Draft items into a Directus collection with status draft, using the fields the collection already has.
  • Every piece lands as a draft in your own editor, so nothing goes live from SKYA and nothing needs pasting.
  • The draft keeps its title, slug, excerpt and the reason it was written, so review takes a minute, not a rebuild.
