Overview
Writes a content fix straight back into the system that publishes it, so shipping a change is not an export, an edit and an import.
AI crawler tracking on a Shopify site
Counting AI crawler visits needs the server or CDN logs for the domain, which Shopify does not hand out and no vendor can read from a content API. That is a property of where the site is served, not of the CMS, so put the domain behind Cloudflare and the visits are counted while publishing keeps working here.
Set up CloudflareHow it works
Before you start: The store owner, or a staff account allowed to install apps. A staff account without that permission sees the screen and cannot complete it.
- 1Connect the SKYA app to your store from your SKYA project.
- 2Apply a title or description in SKYA and it shows on that page straight away. Your home page title stays in Online Store, Preferences, because Shopify gives apps no way to write it, so SKYA gives you the text.
- 3Turn on the SKYA head block once, in your theme editor under App embeds, for schema and anything else your theme is missing. Turn it off to remove what it adds.
Where to find what Shopify asks you for
- No key to find. You install the SKYA app on your store.
- Enter your store address in SKYA and approve the install on the Shopify permission screen that opens.
- Permission it needs: Pages, content and products, read and write, and on a product only its SEO fields and image alt text. No theme access, and nothing that touches checkout, customers or payment. Orders are read only if you connect your store's orders for the AI Shopping report, and then only order counts and revenue per product, never a customer's name, email or address.
Key benefits
- Titles and descriptions for your pages, products, collections and blog posts go in Shopify's own SEO fields, so they show at once and nothing is written into your theme files.
- Schema, and any canonical or social tags your theme is missing, print through the SKYA head block, which survives a theme change.
- Every change keeps what it replaced and can be undone. Checkout and customers are never touched, on a product only its SEO fields and image alt text change, and orders are read only if you connect them for the AI Shopping report.
