Akamai + SKYA: Stream Akamai DataStream 2 logs to your SKYA webhook and every AI crawler request on the property is counted as it happens, edge cache hits included.
Overview
Counts how often each AI assistant fetches a page from your site, which URLs they take, and which ones they ask for that no longer exist. Being cited proves an assistant read you. Silence does not say whether it never came or came and chose someone else, and this is what separates the two.
How it works
- 1On your project's AI Crawler page in SKYA, open More ways to send visits, create a webhook key and copy the webhook address.
- 2In Akamai Control Center, create a DataStream 2 stream with the request host, request path, user agent, status code and request time fields, in JSON.
- 3Choose Custom HTTPS as the destination, paste the address, set authentication to None, add the custom header X-Skya-Key with your key, then Validate and save.
Where to find what Akamai asks you for
- SKYA webhook key
- In SKYA, on the project's AI Crawler page, under More ways to send visits, choose Create a key. SKYA shows it once and keeps only a fingerprint.
- Permission it needs: Sent in the X-Skya-Key header, because Akamai does not allow a custom Authorization header. It can only add crawler visits to that one project.
Key benefits
- Enterprise edge coverage without a change at the origin.
- DataStream is configuration, so turning it on needs no release.
- Counts requests served from the edge cache, which never reach your origin at all.
